MFortes
A shop with history in one of Porto's most emblematic streets. Since its inception in 1928, MFortes has preserved the art of sewing and embroidery, focusing on quality customer service for all lovers of thread and needles. As a representative of major international brands and considered to be the oldest sewing machine retailer, MFortes sought to reorganize the store space in order to highlight the wide range of products and facilitate communication with the customer. Defining the threads (and needles) of this project was a fundamental step in achieving visual harmony.
Façade Rehabilitation Project, Works and Furniture design
The façade of MFortes was very dilapidated and damaged, losing its prominence in a busy shopping street with a lot of visual noise. It was therefore essential to renovate the façade so that it stood out from the rest of the stores, keeping the original features that preserve the past to project the future. Through color, it was possible to give MFortes greater notoriety on this emblematic street, with a bright red façade that conveys precisely what the store needed: life. In this way, visual prominence was achieved, making the store more attractive and inviting to passers-by.
Just as important as the name of the shop are the brands it represents and sells. That's why it was important to rethink the counters inside the store and create new points of sale for a more attractive product display. We therefore opted for three cubic structures in white lacquered MDF that allow two purposes to be merged: the display of the product for sale and the presentation of the collection of sewing machines acquired by the brand over the decades.
It was also essential to find new ways of displaying and organizing sewing accessories, such as cones and tubes of thread, measuring tapes, squares, scissors, among others, expanding the space and making it easier to move around and find certain products on display.
Finally, on the outside, we restored the window frames, reorganized the highlighted products and installed light boxes and an awning for advertising purposes.
