O SPACE Architecture & Interior Design :: Refurbishment of a duplex apartment

Refurbishment of a duplex apartment

The T4 Duplex apartment in Laborim, with approximately 130m², is spread over two floors carefully designed to maximize functionality and aesthetics.
On Floor 0, the transformation begins with the demolition of walls to create an open space environment that integrates the entrance hall, living room and kitchen. We opted for a light gray vinyl floor, ideal for the kitchen and laundry area, where we incorporated a washing machine, dryer and heat pump into the furniture. The fireplace was redesigned in black, with a decorative niche for storing firewood, and the dark doors were replaced with plain white doors with black fittings.

The kitchen island, a central piece, has a storage side with four doors and shelves, and a meal preparation side with an induction hob and built-in extractor hood. It also includes a built-in telescopic socket, waste compartment, vertical drawer for condiments, built-in oven, with white stone top and sides, and doors and drawers that harmonize with the support units for appliances. Built-in furniture was designed in the double bedroom, office and entrance hall to maximize storage.
On Floor 1, the reorganization of the space involved the creation of a new wall and access to the existing WC, resulting in two independent bedrooms and a playroom. The window trims were replaced with white-lacquered water-repellent MDF, the blinds were automated and blackouts were added to the skylights in the bedrooms. The wooden staircases were restored to their original tone and shine.
This refurbishment has transformed the apartment into a contemporary and functional space, where every detail has been thought out to offer comfort and practicality, reflecting an innovative and sophisticated design.
