O SPACE Architecture & Interior Design :: Kitchen remodelling with microcement

Kitchen remodelling with microcement

This challenging project began with the complete remodelling of a rather old and non-functional kitchen. We reorganised the space to combine aesthetics, comfort and practicality. The result? A Scandi Chic Kitchen Baby Blue, which combines cosy pastel tones with wooden details, creating a light and welcoming atmosphere.
The first step was to present the client with a moodboard, essential for aligning expectations and showing the visual concept. We proposed soft shades of blue, combined with the natural texture of the wood, to reinforce the Scandinavian style and bring sophistication to the space.

Interior Design and Construction Project

The kitchen was designed in an L-shape, optimizing the use of available space. On the main wall, we integrated upper and lower cabinets, creating a two-tiered structure with distinct textures that add visual depth to the design. Next to the refrigerator, we added a practical pantry, ideal for organization. On the other wall, we placed only a lower counter, leaving the upper space free for a window that provides natural light, making the environment brighter and more welcoming.

A key solution in this project was the application of microcement on the walls and flooring, all in the same tone. This material, in addition to being extremely versatile, is ideal for small spaces as it eliminates seams, creating a continuous effect that visually enlarges the area. With moisture resistance and easy-to-clean properties, microcement was the perfect choice to combine functionality and aesthetics.

Every element was carefully designed to blend style and efficiency. The pastel palette, in light blue tones, not only harmonizes with the wood but also reinforces the Scandinavian character. The natural light from the window complements the design, enhancing the finishes and providing a sense of spaciousness and lightness.

This kitchen transformed from an outdated and lifeless space into a modern, functional, and welcoming area with a chic touch. This is yet another example of how, with the right choices of materials and design, we can turn a limited space into something extraordinary.
